I haven't read the books myself, but I do know a lot of people (English majors and teachers, and people with pretty good taste) who do like them. Most have issues with them here or there (like my sister doesn't like the main character), but thinks they're worth reading.

I've read through them all when they have been released, read them again and had to set them aside. The reason I am saying something now, is because many, MANY girls and even boys my age are overly, utterly obsessed with this series and refuse to believe that other books do indeed exist.

And if Stephenie Meyer is going to be the author representing my generation when it comes to literature, i'd love to grow up a little faster.

And good god, Vampires are /not/ supposed to sparkle in the sun, dammit!
